Sorry multilab! I have a co-wrker who has a big stash of world paper. He calls them "gazoonies". tongue.gif

I have three pieces that I don't know how I got -

1) a "10 dollars" from Hong Kong, circa 1986 (I've never been there)

2) a cinco colones note from Costa Rica - beautiful (see attached), also circa 1986, and I've never been there!

3) a 1 won from the Bank of Korea. Don't know the date, and I've nt been there either!

Many foreign notes put our boring bills o shame.

I have a stack of them from Russia. They belonged to my girlfriends grandfather. I have no idea of their value. One day I'll have to look them up in a book.

Beautiful Costa Rica note, hoot. I love looking at world currency. Most of it is so colorful, and relatively inexpensive. I just won 4 auction lots on eBay (about 40 or so notes) and didn't spend but about $20.00. cool.gif

Shiro, we aren't all wierdos, at least I don't consider myself a wierdo. I mean, does it make me wierd to "walk" around on all fours and bark and growl at visitors? crazy.giftongue.gifwink.gifsmirk.gif

I have a fairly large quantity of foreign currency. They are mostly from my travels. I also have friends and relatives giving me stuff because they know I'm the stuff.

I seriously doubt that I have anything of value though...

EVP,

When it comes to world currency, I personally don't collect for the value. I collect because they are so interesting to look at and also to think about the history behind the note. My boss gave me several plastic sleeves of foreign currency that he was planning on throwing out. I'm glad he didn't. Nothing he gave me is worth any significant money, but it is still nice to look at and imagine what the notes have been through. To me, that is one of the best parts of collecting world currency as well as world coins.

So, what countries and/or denominations do you have? Got any scans?

Cool sounding lot, EVP.

Does the Hong Kong (British): 1 cent have a blank back? If so, that's what I have and they look OK. A little on the boring side, but still a little more interesting than US currency.

Do these have any pictures on them? Bulgaria (or some Slavic communist bloc nation): 5, 25, 200 ???, 1951

If you ever find yourself in posession of any extras you would like to trade or sell, let me know.

My British HK center is the boring one w/ a blank back.

As for the unidentified notes with the Commie designs and Cyrillic enscriptions, I have no pictures of any of them. PM me with your postal address and I'll send you some gratis.

I also have a bunch of coins (in a big tin) from all over the world...

I used to have a whole bunch of World currency and coins, but I traded them for some U.S. coins. I still have a few. I have 10 and 20 cent coins from Hong Kong, and twenty something (I dont know what they call their money) bill from Taiwan.

I used to have a 50,000 mark bill and 1, 2, 5, and 10 pfennig coins from Germany.
