1939s Jefferson with Rev of 1940??

4 posts in this topic

I am not aware of any reverse design on 1938 Jeffersons other than was produced for circulation.

There were design changes in 1939 that had reverses of 1938(see following)

In 1939, the reverse of 1938 was used, the steps were weak in design and had no distinct

boundary at the edges.

The reverse of 1940 the steps were incused a bit more during 1939's production run and then

boundary lines were added to distinguish the edges of the steps.

Philly, Denver and Frisco coins in 1939 all had Type I and Type II reverses

39 rev of 38 Type I

39 rev of 40 Type II

Hope this helps

Sorry Woody. You gave me the answer I was looking for, I gave the wrong year. I was wondering as I got a 39s in today but it is so worn, I would never be able to tell the difference on the steps anyway. Thanks again!!
