One of my favorite white coins.

I'd say MS-66.

It's a super strike for the type. The 1837 Reeded Edge half dollars usually had almost no rim on the reverse. For that reason I don't think that these coins would have fared well after heavy circulation. I think that was reason for the design change in 1838. This peice has got a sharp rim all the way around.

The reason I didn't grade it higher is because I do see a couple "carbon spots" on the reverse that would limit the grade to that IMO.

dang. Nice strike and die cracks.

Hard to guess from such small pics (hint hint) but I will go with the 66 grade.

I will throw a 67 at her because the luster gives her that real pop needed to push the coin up the scale.

What a beautiful coin that could be one of the most eye appealing for this short series.

MS67 Actually looks original which seems impossible for a white silver coin from this era.

This statement is precisely why I just couldn't put the coin down. And when I finally did, I picked it back up again.... until I finally bought it.

The grade on the holder is MS67. Technically, if you grade it like a WLH, it's probably more like MS66.5, but the luster is so free and flowing that it's entrancing. Definitely worth the half point bump.

Sounds like the type of coin that you never get tired of looking at. Those type of coins are few and far between.
