QUESTION:

 

When Continental Currency was replaced by the silver dollar due to printing press inflation, how many continental dollars did it take to equal one silver dollar?

hmm. this question has a number of difference answers, since "silver dollar" is not better defined. in 1779, when the spanish dollar becomes the denomination, the ratio is 26/1 (although in a hyperinflationary economy, the rate changed rapidly. in 1785, when the denomination is defined as the "u.s. dollar," the rate is over 200/1. by the 1790s, when the first u.s. silver dollars are minted, the continental currency is UTTERLY WORTHLESS.
