Mercury dime help, please

I was going through some BU Mercs and found these two oddities. A 1939 P Merc with the front leg of the 'R' in Liberty missing-maybe a grease filled die and a 1942 D Merc with the 'D' mintmark overtop of something else-maybe a horizontal 'S'-just a guess. I've been to the Coneca site and have emailed these photos to Jim Checkovich but have not heard back as of yet. Any help would be appreciated-Jim
