Silver hovering at 17.00......

Wow, some pretty impressive gains, percentage wise, for the silver bugs lately.

Looks like it may close over the 17.00 level today. That price seems like another lifetime ago.

Isn't it wild?

It's making those 2007-W Silver Eagles (uncirculated) from the Mint at 21.95 look like a BARGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad I bought a bunch more while the Mint has them on their web site again.

I mean $5 over melt?

Especially compared to the $31.95 price for the 2008 PROOF Silver Eagles?

$5 over melt?

Makes them only cost about $5 more than any bullion round should be worth.

One might argue that an American Silver Eagle bullion coin is worth more than a "silver round" of some kind being that it is:

1. Currency of the realm.

2. Backed by the United States government.

3. Investor grade.

4. Of numismatic value, in addition to its intrinsic value.

5. Eligible for IRA investments.

Among other reasons.

Maybe it's just me. :boo:
