Dansco 7070 Commemoratives Half's

13 posts in this topic

What theme do you use to populate the four holes in your 7070 Dansco album for the commemoratives half dollars?

Me, I went with coins representing my home state and coins from states close by.

Here are two:

The coins in my Dansco 7070 are all within the VF20-AU55 grade range and are all crusty, original pieces. Therefore, not only do I not have the album filled, but finding the appropriate commems can be tough. For the classic commems I chose a deeply toned AU55 Columbian (first year of issue for the classic commem series), a dark, AU50 Maine (my wife and I visit Maine frequently and had our honeymoon there), an AU53 Oregon Trail (simply a terrific design) and an EF45 Connecticut (likely one of the three or four toughest commems to find in original circulated condition). Additionally, for the modern commem dollars hole I chose a dove grey, VF20 Lafayette. They compliment my other coins wonderfully.

The other two coins in mine are the Daniel Boone (NC) and Stone Mtn. So we have NC which is surrounded by SC, GA, and VA. Just need one more slot for TN but not sure if there is a TN commem or not.

Good question and great post!

I have the sesqui below the Franklin half since they share a similar reverse. 2 moderns, 2 classics and two historical figures.

When I came back to collecting in 1998 I saw the name Dansco alblum and wondered what they looked like. After a while I saw a picture of one and laughed as this was the alblum I had my coins in back in the 70`s and 80`s.

I ran out of holes, so I will have to get a commem type album, I think.

Here are the commem halves I own.

I also have a circulated BTW commem, but I have not yet imaged it.

I just now looked at a Dansco album. Wasn't sure what they actually held. I think I may get one of these one day and start working on one myself!

I have a Columbian, since it represents the first, a Washington, since it represents the first of the "rebirth", a Pilgrim, since I've just always loved the design, and have yet to select a fourth.
