What was the first country to issue Palladium coinage and when?

What was the first country to issue Palladium coinage and when?

 

ANSWER: Tonga struck and issued Palladium coins in 1967. The coins edge even says “HISTORICALLY THE FIRST PALLADIUM COINAGE”. The coins were struck for King Taufa’ahau IV coronation. Since Tonga’s use of Palladium, the medal has been used by China, Canada, Russia and others in coinage.
