I'd think it is almost a given that you'd end up with over-graded coins which you paid too much for.

The Texas coins seem off price wise. The CC's could be a good buy. BTW you will not be getting anything dated 1889 CC for that price.

The ad for the CC Morgans was placed by Record Coin Shop in Cut Bank, Montana. Anyone ever heard of them?

Chris

Yes, that's John Love, a long time, good-guy, major silver dollar dealer.

If this is a recent ad and not an old one you found in an old magazine, then I'd say typo. Maybe 17,500?

Give that man a candy cane! I thought I'd have a little fun.

I came across two issues of Coins magazine in a box of junk that a friend gave to me. This ad ran in the April, 1969 issue.

The ad for the Texas Commems was in the December, 1970 issue, and it was placed by Chattanooga Coin Corp.

Mark, I gather that he is still around? I tried searching for the company but couldn't find it. Do you have a link?

Yeah, I still wonder what would have been the outcome if I had taken the money I won in a pool game and bought five bags of the Morgan Dollars released by the Treasury Department instead of that new 1964 Corvette which I traded in for a new 1966 GTO.
