While at the ANA in Colorado Springs co-teaching the course " The Coinage of Charles Barber " - a very good friend of mine from the southern Denver suburbs invited me for the weekend to look over his massive Barber collection.

We did some horse trading - sometimes swapping coins grade for grade and date for date because I felt some coins looked better in his collection and some looked better in mine. We were both very pleased with our decisions and then he decided to show me the duplicates he was stuck with for his Dime collection. Considering that I had provided him with over 90% of the Dimes in his collection, I decided to buy back what he was "stuck" with. lol.

I now have a good handle on another collection - but this time - the set will consist of XF's as well as AU's.

Fast forward to this past weekend and the Summer FUN auction run by Heritage, I decided to pick up a few of the Key Dates [ I was bagged on the 1895-P in AU 50 however ]. Well, another 6 dates - plus the eleven from my friend - has now gotten to me - the bug is definitely bitten me again !!

Tonight, I landed this coin - its a tad too "nice" for the newer set - but old habits are hard to break....

I promise to get the newps up on this Thread soon.... I hate to see the Thread slip so far down.

I spotted an old coin of mine that I sold when I upgraded my old set

and now that I am fine tuning the new set of Halves, I thought my old coin

would slide right in...

I left off at a new group I repurchased after a few years in a friend's collection.

He decided to upgrade coins from my 2nd set - and can't blame him, 99% were purchased raw - and when I first started getting back into coins after a

20 year break.

Mistakes were made - "one man's 58 is another man's 45 as they say."

Here are a few "old" new coins for my 3rd set !!

Great looking Pick ups as always Mike.

You have a good eye for quality.

I recieved my 1902 Liberty nickel and it is the finest quality coin in my V nickel collection for eye appeal, color, strike

Jom, Thanks !

You need to see the coin in hand to fully appreciate it.

I have every intention of sending the coin to the photographer

and he'll do a whole lot better than the scans I posted.

In the mean time, I had two new Dimes imaged for my

VF/XF/AU set ....
