I picked up a few trinkets.................

.........at the first monthly show of the season for the Ft. Myers Coin Club. It's only 40 tables, but attendance was pretty good. Elderly customers seemed anxious to sell their silver and gold.

One old gent was looking for an 1892-S Morgan, and when one dealer showed him an AU58 specimen, he asked, "Is that the best you've got?" I had to chuckle just a little. I got a chance to talk to him later, and he told me that he has a complete collection of Morgans and that he is upgrading some of them. Get this! He already has an 1884-S and 1893-S in MS63, and an 1889-CC and 1893-CC in MS64. It must be nice!

I was able to sell every bit of my paper money to my personal attorney who is the Secretary of the coin club. He gave me a very fair price, and I asked him why he couldn't be more obliging on his hourly fees. hm I also sold a 20th Anniversary 3-pc. Silver Eagle set, all 69's, for a 350% profit to one dealer who wanted it for his personal collection. It seems that he and his partner ordered 10 of the sets, each, and his partner went out and sold all of them for a 100% profit. :o So, when he tried to order more, they were sold out. Smart partner! lol I also took along my casino chip and silver strike collection, and I sold a few of those to other attendees. I had to take the business outside, though, because the dealers don't take too well to "outisders" stealing their customers.

The selection of Morgans wasn't as good as I had hoped, but I was able to find a few nice ones. Here are three of them. The last one is an 1885-O, NGC MS67, but I'll be darned if I can take a picture good enough to show it's beautiful colors. The mark in front of Liberty's nose is on the slab.

Can't honestly say.

I had asked in another thread if you would be attending. I thought that we might have a chance to meet, but you never responded. I just assumed that you weren't interested. It's always the 3rd Saturday of the month, so the next one will be December 15. Let me know if you want to meet, and I'll remind you so you won't forget.

Okay, Chris. I just checked my schedule, I'm off Saturday the 15th.

Its on my calendar - so I won't forget !

You can PM me prior as a reminder if you'd like...

I honestly don't remember anything about this month's meeting - sorry.

Have not gone to any FT Myers Coin Club meetings

since they moved them into the waterfront area. I liked

the old meeting place as it was easy to find.

Are the coin shows still down the street from Wendy's off of US 41 ?

It's on Park Meadows Drive at the Elks Club. Turn left off US41 about a 1/2 mile north of College Parkway and it's about another 1/2 mile on the left.

Nice pick up, Chris. Where'd you find a Smurf Morgan? smurf.gifCool. Are they worth a premium? :baiting:

Where else would you expect to find a Smurf Morgan? At the Smurf's Coin Shop, of course! doh!

This 1883-CC has really deep mirrors, so I decided to take two sets of photos. I used the OTT lights on the first pair and fluorescent lighting on the second pair. I paid $460 for it.

Shane, that would be great! It's at the Elks Club on Park Meadows Drive in South Ft. Myers.
