Dipping Aluminum-Bronze Coins

3 posts in this topic

I just purchased a couple of coins made from Aluminum-Bronze and was considering dipping them to remove some minor surface toning and debris. However, I can't recall ever dipping coins made of Aluminum-Bronze composition. Anyone familiar with dipping coins of this composite?

If so, what can I expect from a normal splash in Jeweluster?

The coins are 1926 Greenland 50 Ore and 1 Krone (KM#7 & KM#8) and while not expensive, they weren't cheap and I'd hate to harm them in any way.

I'd be careful of the bronze component, especially if it comprises a significant %-age of the planchet.

Perhaps you can re-ask this question in the Ask NCS forum...

PS Don't forget that removing toning is different than removing surface debris.
