GRADES POSTED! Guess the Grade(s): pair of 1823 Capped Bust half-dollars

You may be surprised to know that these coins are graded ten points apart! It will be interesting to see your guesses. I basically agree with the grades assigned. Guess the slab, if you want.

The first one I will guess VF-35, the second one VF-25.

The first looks to have a weak strike so I would say AU-50, with the second being an XF-40.

Knowing nothing about strike characteristics on these I will guess VF30 and VF20, but I suspect that I'm low.

Aaahh...don't let it bother you. You have as good a shot at a proper grade for these as the grading services from what I have seen.

Here are the answers:

 

Coin #1: PCGS VF-35!

 

Coin #2: NGC VF-25!

 

I like both of these coins at their respective grades, and it appears as the general consensus was actually pretty close to the certified grades. You guys are pretty good graders!

PCGS was a bit generous in grading the first coin, but it does have a nice look.
