Turkey AH 1255 2 kurush?

I recently bought this coin as an "AH 1255 2 piastres." My Krause tells me that there were no "piastres" minted during this period, so I assume it must be a 2 kurush. It's about the same size as a dime.

Can anyone tell me its value, the ruler it was minted under, etc.?

Hey, I recently purchased one of these. Mine is an 1891. It's grading right now at NGC. I'm hoping for an MS67, but I don't have a freaking clue as to how to grade them so anything is possible. smirk.gif

This coin is in my 1991 Krause, but the values are probably way off.

I can't tell if yours is unc or not. It looks at least AU.

For what it is worth, I paid under $20 for mine.

Did you find the coin in your Krause yet?

If you've got a newer version of the book would you mind looking up an 1891 to see what it is worth? I've got to start looking up the foreign coins before I buy them.

Shiro, your 2 kurush is dated year 12 (1888) of the reign of Abdul Hamid II (1876-1909). Value in my '96 Krause is $8 in XF with a mintage of 325,000.

Are you sure it's not from the reign of Abdul Mejid?
