Was this Indian Head cleaned?

Obverse looks normal enough to me:

 

But coloring on reverse just doesn't seem natural.

 

Why is the interior around ONE CENT so much more yellow than the surrounding wreath?

Tough one... I think it's just a nicely worn G6 coin...if it was cleaned, it was done so a very long time ago..L

Perhaps oiled or something, but I like this look a lot. I would gladly add this coin to my collection if I needed it.

Yes, I'd say that it was been cleaned lightly to remove some corrosion, but it was done long ago. In this grade I don’t think it should make much difference. Indian cents from the 1860s and ‘70s were made on poor quality metal than the later dates. This coin is actually pretty nice for what it is.

I agree that the reverse color looks OK. The obverse may have been recolored.
