For sure.

Keep it nonetheless. They are great conversation peices. There are tons of fakes out there. Good luck finding a real one! Keep for reference as I can not stress enough on such coins, as counterfeits are abundant!! Happy hunting by the way! I'm out doing some metal detecting. Have fun!

Several years ago my brother found one in the dirt. He was told it was fake and never held on to it.....I wished he would have kept it. Counterfeit or not it was a piece of history...my brother not knowing it at the time. We have conversations about the coin on rare occasions. Either way. Good find!

I miss the war nickels I had as a kid. Did not know about the silver content until years later. If I knew now but back in the 90s

Keep it for reference. Or send it to back to circulation. Respectfully.

I do see evidence of a smudge after the "hit". Its small but it's there. Coins are crazy at times! Glad you are in to collecting.

[It will be interesting to see what the Mint will do when silver prices, now on a steady march upwards to the $30/oz level, exceeds it and the price for the new Morgan and Peace dollars dated 2021, now tentatively set at $85. undergoes reconsideration before their official release dates.]
To the practiced eye, there are marked differences between the older and newer versions which make the former more desirable.
Absolutely. At least that's what I believe in as well. If I can find at "cheap", I keep. I love to hunt in the wild.

Maybe USB microscope?

Nice find, congrats and welcome!

Hey nice gift none the less. Possibly the planchet was maybe a tad thinner when struck or a tad worn over the years. But nice. I love the Morgan dollars.

Sooo true. I only paid 30 for this one. But honestly it was the best I've seen in the peace dollars that have not been graded. And the detail looked better than the other peace dollars I've collected over the years. I'm keeping this one safe.

Respectfully it seems artificial. But that's just my opinion. But definitely keep it for reference.

Lol! I am super excited to have her in my collection. Was just getting home after mother's day shopping and this pops out of my pocket change and I immediately noticed. I had to share to the community!

Nice for the collection. Sorry to hear about your grandfather. I too recently lost my grandfather right before thanksgiving. When I was younger granddad gave me and my twin a box of coins from everywhere he had traveled. My brother has them now. I may ask him if I can have a look at them again. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure.

I have seen that happen to a coin. Keys in pocket at same time the coin was there. I'm not saying that's what it was but very similar.
