  1. If you look close you can see a horizonal line going across the obverse through where Lincoln's neck is and vertical lines going down from the horizonal line. I believe these are the Memorial from a capped die.
  2. My brother just sent me pictures of two pennies. One appears to be a capped die the other just looks funny. Any input? The second one weights 3.02 gr.
  3. Mr.Bill347, All the cards I sold were raw back then. Graded cards were just coming into their own. One card I remember was an autographed Ryan Leaf rookie card, a woman in Montana paid me over $300.00 for it...too bad about Leaf. I would purchase a Beckett magazine look up the price and post the card less than high price ( they were all new, just out of the wrapper) I'm sure all of them would have graded mint. I sold Bret Favre, Dan Marino, John Elway rookie cards for a decent price. I requested payment by cash or cashiers check with a self addressed stamped envelop. It was a lot of posting with no pictures back then but I never got a bad review. I hope Beckett works as well for you as it did me. I still have about 20,000 cards left, I gave them to my son and told him NEVER throw them away or give them to Goodwill, some day they might be worth some good money. I'm sure they're still in mint condition, they've been in boxes since the late nineties...who knows what they'll bring in another 20 years.
  4. Mr.Bill347, It appears Beckett still has some sort of Marketplace. https://marketplace.beckett.com/
  5. Really Mr.Bill347? Back in the late 90's my son got interested in trading cards, football mainly. Being divorced I would get the kids every other weekend. One weekend my son wanted to get some football cards, so I took him to a local card shop to buy some. Thinking cards were still five cents a pack I let him get a few packs. He got six packs and it cost me over $70.00. To make a long story short, I started a business to get a tax number so I would be able to buy directly from a wholesaler. (I had to buy a full box) Over a period of time getting 3-4 boxes every other weekend and him taking what he wanted, It all came to an end, he became uninterested in cards. I ended up with over 50,000 cards! Wanting to get rid of them a card dealer said that Beckett had a buy/sell section on their website. It was a God send. I sold enough cards to more than make my money back. I'm not sure if they are still in operation or not but it might be a start. The guy who wants to sell the raw coins isn't a member of NGC.
  6. Asking for a friend...what is the best website to sell raw coins? eBay? Like to find a site that deals exclusively with coins. Thanks for any help.
  7. This is a good modern fake. It even has a slightly beveled edge as pointed out in Coin Week which apparently is missing on most counterfeits. I believe JWLange. But why did they do an 1870...practicing for the 1877 or 1909 S?
  8. Here is what Coin Week says about the strong "N" https://coinweek.com/us-coins/coinweek-iq-the-oddities-of-indian-head-cents/ I posted on Ask NGC/NCS, and here is what JWLange replied: "It is a modern fake that's been artificially "aged.". I don't know. I do like GBrad's analysis though.
  9. Thanks for the info Woods020. Very informative.
  10. Found this in some change, looks like an RPM. Couldn't find any documentation on this, or a value, if it is an RPM. Does anyone have any input?
  11. Thanks...I didn't want to hear that...but, it is what it is.
  12. Had this on the newbie section and some seem to think this may be a counterfeit. I'm not sure. I need your expert opinion...could this be counterfeit? If it is I'm only out $2.00. If not I think I got a pretty good deal.
  13. It weighs 3.11. Not sure about the denticles, could be PMD. Denticles weren't mentioned in the counterfeit detection process but they could be something no one has noticed. I'm just not sure. Do you think the Ask NGC section of the chat boards can put some resolution on this? I think I'll post it on there. Thanks for all the input.
  14. Hope these pics are better. I have this sinking feeling that I.cutler may be on to something. I checked what a counterfeit would look like and it doesn't have the counterfeit trademarks, but still....it could be. The 7 looks correct.
  15. Picked this up at a flea market for 2 bucks. Good deal?

    My "Error"

Thanks Lisa, I appreciate it. Rick

    My "Error"

Hi Lisa, I submitted a 1999 wide AM as a mint error on submission form 5960102. I've been told that a wide AM is not an error but a variety. Will NGC correct this for me? Thank you , Rick

    My "Error"

I recently sent a submission to NGC that I listed as a "Mint Error". I now realize it's not a mint error but a "Variety", will NGC correct my error or will I have to resubmit the coin?
  19. I see the damage to the 9 and 5 going through the MM but if the MM was flattened due to a hit, how did it form a near perfect circle and remain raised?
  20. I've been collecting for some time but my brother found this 1953 "?". I see PMD but the entire mint mark area is raised in a near perfect circle.
  21. Thanks guys. I knew it was PMD and I knew there was no value, I was just wondering how and why someone would do this. Never thought of two pieces of leather and a hammer. Thanks again for your input...I gain a little more knowledge every day.
  22. Found this badly damaged 1996 D LMC. I noticed something odd about it...it's larger than a regular penny. It weighs 2.48 grams so it's/could be a zinc cent. At first I thought that it was a counterfeit cent, but then I thought, "Why would someone counterfeit a 1996 D LMC?" Any opinions?
  23. I sent a coin in under the economy tier, it was received on 03/15 it hasn't been scheduled for grading yet. I was wondering what is the current time frame between time of receipt and scheduled for grading? Submission number 5940431. Thank you.
  24. Thanks guys. Now I know...I thought it might be missing the clad, the weight didn't support it.
