Is that type set a "One Hundredth Post Giveaway"? I'm in!!!
-
That's a heck of a type set, ER!!!
-
Capped Bust dimes are simply cool, aren't they?
-
Well then, that explains the surfaces.
Winston, these HK573 SCDs were struck in brass, but I am not aware of them being struck in other metals.
-
WHOA!!! That is spectacular, John!!!
-
Is your FE cent PL, ER?
-
That's a seriously darn cool coin, Boiler!
I'm thinking I should just put that phrase on a continuous loop for this thread, what do others think?
-
Well, here's one where the obverse image came out nice, but the reverse is a bit out of focus and actually makes the coin look a little weaker than it is. I'll have to re-shoot it later. Yes, that is a tiny little D mintmark on the reverse. Anyway, I think Bob would like this coin.

Nice work, Winston! If that was one of the two that you sent me links to then this was the one I liked better.
-
That's an interesting image comparison. The first set looks a bit washed out while the second obverse looks too warm, is the in-hand truth in between?
-
There's a lot of pop on that type 3 and a monster die clash!
-
Good thunk, not bad thunk.
-
I typed it right, but it sure came out wrong.

Hayden, it's nice to see Civil War dated gold.
-
Mike, that is a nice looking half that appears to have developed a healthy skin over time.
Bob, nice large cent! Those are way tough!
-
Nice half dime! Do you have an obverse image?
-
Nice Barber!

Howdy and welcome Janine. The dealer you brought the coins to was apparently trying to rip you off big time because there is a significant premium attached to many of the coins you listed.
The 1999-W PCGS PF69 coins are modern error coins that sell for a large premium over melt value. Any coin that is graded MS70 or PF70 also generally sells for a premium over melt. The statement regarding very bad defects is nearly unbelieveable in its outright attempt at fraud.
You should post this as a new thread on the coin boards so that folks will notice it.

Wow, someone paid for a TrueView for an AU50 1914 Lincoln cent?
I'm just kidding around!!!

I don't like following Boiler
That's a common lament.
The shield nickel is a beauty, which seems very odd to write.

I love these lightly circulated Columbian halves!
-
I like it, Spider, and it is also one that appears in my Dansco 7070.

The Mott Token is shrouded in some mystery, but many believe these were struck in 1839, and not in 1789 as the token states. Truly, I happen to agree that 1839 makes sense because of the style of eagle on the reverse, which did not appear in a similar manner on US coinage until 1808 or thereabouts.

I'm certain Lee knows this, but others might not be familiar with this issue so I will share with them that the Maine is one of the toughest commems to find with substantial and attractive toning on it. That is a really nice coin.
I'm certain I know this, but Lee might not be familiar that the board policy of posting attractive Draped Bust halves is that they must then be sent to me. Thanks, Lee!
