That has to be one of the most mean-spirited and childish things that I have ever read on this forum. What possible excuse can you have for not wanting someone to pay less than you for a coin?

Why, resale value of coins.  The higher the sold price of a coin is, the more it drives up the market.  The lower the historical sale price of a coin is, the more it drives down the market.  So, let's say I have a coin in my collection and I see another one selling for less money at auction.  I can let it go and someone can pick it up at prices I can never pick up coins at, or I can bid at a price I am willing to pay for the coin and add it to my collection.  If the other bidder wants the coin more than I am willing to pay for a duplicate, they can have it.

Why would you want to "run up the price?"

Simple, I don't want someone getting the same coin I did for a lower price. So if I am buying a coin, I snipe it.  If I have the coin I will bid a price I am willing to pay to duplicate the coin and if someone wants it more, they can pay for it.

I am curious to see hos this series goes, when I saw the first five above I only knew three of the women and had to look up the other two.   I would bet that many to most of the younger generations will have no idea of who any of those women are.   So I have to wonder, will this be a success and get people to at least do a google search when each design is released.   Or will most just say who the heck is this and go on with their day.

I suspect most will simply continue on.  Look at the coinage we have out right now, most people out there have no clue what is on the back of the coins.  Why?  Because less is more.  When you had an eagle on the back of Washington and then you changed it to a drummer-boy for a single year, people were excited to find something different in their change.  Now?  As a coin collector I don't even know what was on the back of last years quarters let alone any other quarter over the last five years or so.  We should have gone back to the eagle as soon as the 50 states were complete.  Now it simply doesn't matter anymore.

    Hello.

Thanks for your request. The team will research this and send you an email when a decision has been reached.

Unless I missed the email it seems this may have been cast aside.  Are we going to have the option for an Edward VII ruler set on Canadian coins for 1902-1910 as we do for Victoria 1858-1901, George V 1911-1936, George VI 1937-1952, and Elizabeth II from 1953-date?  It seems kind of odd that a nine year period is simply missing out of this series of collections.

    Thank you,

    Joshua

It's a long parade with everyone out of step. The drum major is marching sideways in circles and there's a tuba player over in a flower garden.

Unfortunately, the OP has a history of posting counterfeits, unfounded claims, and other rubbish as if grand discoveries were being made weekly. Most members have grown (maybe "groan" is better) numb to this. Folks might be more tolerant if the OP simply posted a coin he liked and asked for feedback.

    Fair enough.

  6. I believe NGC is in the business of grading coins.  As such one would expect that a few coins come through the NGC offices each year to be graded.  One service offered is the Variety Plus.  NGC has graded most if not all of these listed varieties as well.  Yet when you look at NGC's tab for the Variety Plus you may read the title of the variety, however there are NO photos and now written descriptions.  (At least when looking at Canadian coins.)  Would it not be in the best interests of NGC to take high quality photos of the coins they grade.  Then when you have a variety to post a photo of the variety along with a written description of what you are looking at in the variety.  Then, when a collector is deciding if they are going to send a coin to NGC to be graded, they could look at the variety in order to help decide IF the coin is worth grading!

Whatever dude you seem to have chip on your shoulder about this because of how it affects you is what I'm seeing.  This tie issue will most likely only apply to modern coin series where collectors are chasing PF70/MS70 coins, the fellow you warned is doing Morgans and the chances of a tie in that series is very small.   If moderns are your thing that's cool but imo having hundreds of thousands invested in moderns is a huge gamble, those coin prices have nowhere to go but down.  And if being the top set in a series is/was a goal then it would be wise to do some research about the scoring system before starting such a set to avoid any disappointments.  I have tens of thousands in my set and I have zero chance of reaching the top spot, for me its all about my collecting goals not awards.

Agreed.  If you are going for the top spot in a set then you had best be prepared to spend more on that set than anyone else.  Coin collecting should be about personal goals, and showing off your coins is in my opinion more about socializing than that top spot.  What difference does it make if you know nothing about the coins you have but were simply able to find and purchase the top rated coin.  Find out what you like about the coin and have fun.
