  1. Thank you for your message.

Gem Brilliant Uncirculated (BU), or Gem Uncirculated, is an adjectival grade which NGC defines as being MS 65 or higher. The coin was not officially assigned an MS number, most likely as part of a special submission program. Adjectival grades exist alongside the numerical grades of the 70-point Sheldon Grading Scale.

  2. Hello James,

Thank you for your post, these are some nice looking coins. While it's a bit difficult to determine specific grades here, people will often submit coins that have some significance to them. That way, the coins can be preserved in NGC's museum-quality holder for years to come.

It may be a good idea to submit just a few of the best looking coins and see the resulting grades. If you're unfamiliar with our services, memberships start at just $25. We appreciate your interest in NGC.

  3. Hello,

Thank you for your message. The medal can be submitted in a flip or its original US Mint capsule. The box should not be submitted. If you choose to submit the medal in its original Mint packaging and would like the Mint packaging returned, select the “Return Mint Packaging” box on the NGC Submission Form. The fee is $5 plus the cost of shipping.

Complete submission instructions can be found here. We appreciate your interest in NGC.

  4. Hi,

Thank you for your message. "Ineligible Type" refers to a class of coin, medal or token that NGC does not certify, regardless of its condition. The grading fee is refunded less a $5 handling fee.
