If you take a flat edge and run it across the top of the 1 and the top of the 0 if you see a bit of the nine above that plane
you have a Large date.
Then to really confuse you there are coins with a small date OVER a large date - though this is not one :-)
I will do that, thanks. Can I also do that with the 1970 Large and small date?

Probably not, since the uppermost arrowhead appears to be free of the leaf. On the Type H reverse, it is embedded in the leaf:

Close but no Cigar,
Thank you @DWLange

Do you have any die salsa to go with it?
<-- that is the closet Emoji to eating chips.
I will save the best looking ones and unload the rest.

Do it, Maybe Post the best looking one from the bunch and maybe say what grade you think it is. I am quite curious and would be a good learning opportunity to hone our grading skills.

Notice the Alfalfa looking hair or extra feather, on top of the head?
Would that be just a crack in the die? I have a roll from the mint that I was looking at and came across that.

The raised metal could be DDD
Ok, I remember what DDD is. Definitely not worth sending in. I guess I'll leave it in the 2x2 and give it to the kids for their collection.

Stay tuned, our host has 7 of my coins and waiting to see what I get back. I am hoping of at least Two PF70s

I don't think it was trying to form another design. The scratches are way deep to be anything with the minting process. It looks like someone was trying to clean, was frustrated or trying to make a fake error coin of some sort. it is really badly damaged.

Sad to see this on any proof coin.
I know what you mean, It is hardly noticeable and not enough for someone to be like. "I want it", nonetheless, its distracting.

The 9 is slightly higher than the 1 instead of being level
Ooh! Ok, so the 1 and 9 have to be level on the small date?

I don't think it would be worth the risk of getting it slabbed. Who knows Maybe I'll do it with the free submission next year on membership renewal and add it to my worthless collection.

Hello Chatters, miss me much? Hahahahaha! Yeah, yeah. Don't even bother answering. I already know you have. So I am here today because I finally ran across the article that first gave me some insight into how a Doubled Die and other Mint Errors are made. If you read this article and look at the pictures by the end of it you will have a whole new look into what causes what you are looking for, if you are an error searcher. I feel like the first thing for any Newbie in Coin Collecting is to get an understanding of not the error itself but rather how the Minting process works, so then you have a better understanding of how an error can happen in the first place. See? This article is long, yes, but how many hours have you already spent looking at coins only to post them and have all your hooes and dreams stomped on when you are told PMD or MD? So why not read the darn thing and the 3 others it links to so there will be fewer crushed dreams? Between the 4 articles there is everything you need to know about the basics of coinage and how errors are born. You may have to read between a few lines but I'm guessing none of you are or else you wouldn't be here at all. Cause this here hobby is for smarty pants only. So just do it. Read the articles, now....You'll thank me later.

Very informative link, thank you so much.
It really gives me perspective. From what I have learned here has really helped me not to waste so much time searching for something that is not there and rather focus on what I want to collect and look for that. I don't need to collect everything and just what sparks my interest.
With that, I have now started to look for the better looking coins for my collection and budgeting for that.
Thanks again @KarenHolcomb

The question is, how many newbies bother to read the WYNTK forum before they rush to post their questions/pictures? My guess is almost none of them.
I am Guilty of that.

Wait, wasn't it decided that the coin was a brass token commemorating Columbus or something?
