I did reply to your first email but just noticed it was not delivered.
I cropped and enhanced your second photos to make it more legible.
Are you sure the Mint Marks are both "D", because I believe there is a slight difference between the Nickel and the Silver Clad coins but the Silver Clad has a S Mint Mark, not a D.
I was also going to highlight the color difference. The one on the left seems lighter which makes me think it is not Copper-Nickel clad.

Yeah,
I don't think they switch the coin. I think he is more upset about not getting what he asked for.
About the coin cleaning, NGC does not clean, I think they perform some type of preservation which by the way I am eggstatic about. Why would anyone complain about that?
I am very happy with the NGC service.

It does look like some doubling on the bust and on the bow, definitely some type of double chin. maybe the one in the date has some doubling. Very interesting find. I think it is very cool.

That is what it looks like to me too.

That's very odd. It isn't round, it's reeded, and LIBERTY is too far from the rim. It's like somebody removed the other clad layers leaving the copper core, but that doesn't explain the position of LIBERTY. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I can't think of how the mint could do it accidentally or how someone else could do it intentionally.
Perhaps it was pressed? Like using a hydraulic press. what is the diameter of the coin? if it was pressed, it would probably wider. probably a pressed quarter to make it into a half dollar? Just speculating here.

I'll be back. My friends mom just passed. I hate that.
Deepest condolences to your friend. -
I'm going to go on a limb here and say that the holder is not NGC. And the coin is not, (in my opinion - others may disagree- not a pro here) an MS65. The pictures are not clear enough to say if it even matches the grade.
10 minutes ago, MikeWise said:Authenticity Opinion: Not Eligible for Expert ReviewGrade Opinion: N/AThat is maybe why you got the message, because of the bad pictures and it is not an NGC holder. How can I tell? It says NGS not NGC.
Hope this helps.

Have you read the article by our host? Here it explains the difference.
It has helped me understand doubling. That to the folks here I have learned a lot. and and no where near the amount of knowledge the folks here have.

Ok, nevermind, the ones I have are memorial reverse.

Seriously? the 1959 is rare? I did not know that. I have a few and at least one or two in mint.

No, I could not tell you off the top of my head. I haven't got to that chapter in the book.

So the cat is reality and the hysterical woman is someone(snowflake) getting upset because the reality is not what they thought it was.
It's like, "Nah man! I said Machine doubling, even though it is doubling, it is not the same thing as a double die" .
and folks don't get that there are differents kinds of doubling. hence, "You Said it was a Double Die"
My two cents.

paying NGC for the second highest tier of membership just works for me.
That is what I currently have and I was thinking of upgrading next year, only because i have some Walkthroughs to submit. plus 10% off on submissions would be good. I'm still debating. I may try the monthly ANA see how I like it.

direct submit coins to NGC as a free benefit of membership
I do see where you slabbed coins say ANA in them and I must say, I really like that.
5 minutes ago, VKurtB said:no credits to use for slabbing though
Does this mean, I don't have to pay membership fees to NGC? hence no slabbing credits? but ANA membership does get you discounts? BTW, I just ordered my new Delaware reverse proof. just bought one. lets see if I get lucky and score another PF70 when I sent it in.

Oh nevermind, 30k limit. not impressed.

How much do you think I could sell it for?
I would pay what the mint is selling it for. This is is by all means not a valuation on the coin but rather what I would pay for it. Why would I pay more? in terms of collecting. I am not rushing into it because there is no limit on mint amount, could be hundreds of thousands.
