I see your grandpa’s stuff is in Eagle brand holders. I love that stuff. Are you sure you’re not a time traveler and you’re MY unborn grand-daughter selling my collection that my son passed on to you?

So a guy who has worked for numerous TPGS uses fluorescent lights? /Shaking My Head. This is the way to lose any confidence I ever had.

They do not show on my cheap old phone, but are clear as day on my wife’s newer one and my computer monitor. Those who are literate can determine that from the above.

Color is not uniform. It all depends on the choices of inks and dyes in the printed page, and the choices of color devices in additive color such as screens.
Skip’s photos on this thread are among the worst I have ever seen anywhere in terms of calibrated color. I mean cripes, if you’re going to ask about why color is important, shouldn’t you have the obligation to get your photos to some semblance of correct color? On this, @RWB is spot on.

How does a non-collector even acquire these? They don’t exactly fall from the sky during thunderstorms.

Without passing judgement on this particular controversy, this is illustrative of the way @RWB routinely conducts himself. Nothing he believes is opinion; it’s all indisputable fact. [ eye roll so hard you can hear it ]
Maybe this is what ran him afoul of the federal court in Philadelphia. Being certified as an expert witness does not make one the possessor of truth. All it does is permit the witness to offer an OPINION, because “opinions” of people other than expert witnesses are not admissible at all in a courtroom. Painting one’s opinions as facts will not often serve the interests of the litigant for whom one is testifying. Lesson learned?

Some are, most are not. I believe a set of literature is a great thing. One of my “things” is competitive exhibiting, and no, that’s NOT the same as a registry set. It is museum-like exhibits that relate the story of the numismatic material being displayed. The addition of original literature surrounding ANYTHING creates a huge increase in scores.

    Well put Coinbuff.
Complete clear photos of both sides should be the norm when posting whether the OP thinks it is necessary or not. Many times there are markers on another part of the coin that can help with evaluation that the OP is unaware of.
Personally I have stopped replying to questions when only a partial part of the coin is shown. It is OK and appreciated to have a closeup of the area of concern along with complete photos.

Just showing  very closeup details is neither helpful nor dispositive when dIagnosing varieties, and contInuing to do so will only detract from your reputation here.

Misinformation is pure "poison" to this hobby, whether promoted by an innocent newbie, a troll, or a person with ill intent. And I'll not apologize for jumping on the back of anyone spreading misinformation, regardless of motive. Knowledge is power, and misinformation is the power to deceive.

After we get the last ATB quarter next year, the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial (as I will be an Alabaman then, I figure I’ll go to the release ceremony), a “classic” design will be returning - the OBVERSE of the Washington quarter as seen from 1932-1998. The reverse will be the new “Washington Crossing the Delaware” reverse, but all the obverse legends will be as they were from 1932-1998. I hope there’s a spring release ceremony at Washington Crossing State Park and whatever is on the New Jersey side. I know there is one of the finest wine shops anywhere nearby.

VKurtB got a reaction from Modwriter in What are the general grade of these 3 gold coins?
It seems unlikely to me. The marks that are there don’t indicate a harsh cleaning or polishing.
