Waiting for my coins to be graded with batted breath.
I am new to coin collecting. My friend got me started with the 2009 Lincoln Coin & Chronicles Proof Mint Set. After that I started buying the American Silver Eagle Proof and Mint State the year before they stop the Mint Proof in 2009. But I love the coin so much I am on a quest to find a 1986 American Silver Eagle Proof 70. So I sent in a couple of Eagles some proofs others mint state. I am hoping for a 70 but if not I will continue to find one. I see some online to purchase but I want the pleasure of sending in a coin for grading and getting it back graded at a 70 with a label ?First Year Issue?.
I just want to have a Proof and Mint State 70 for 1986, 2006 and 2011 that is my collection hope. Because of the break of the series by the US Mint I am not going for the full series.
    Wish me luck.

Spent more than I had to.
I am new to coin collecting so when I join NGC Collectors Society I should have chose the premium options and not the associate. When I sent in my first five coins the cost would have made for the premium membership. As it stands I paid $114.00 for five coins and with the premium membership they would have been free. $114.00 + $39.00 = more money spent.

The end of the week ends with a nice Eagle.
Today I received my 2010 W Silver Eagle Proof Dollar Liberty. I am on my way to my goal of collecting First Year, 20th Anniversary, 25th Year, 25th Anniversary slabs PF 70s. I sent five SAE and I hoping one is a 70. But after reading Ken?s journal "Soul Crusher" I do not know if I will get a 70 out of the five. I know from a friend that Eagles from the US Mint are either 69s or 70s. My fingers are cross.

With batted breath I waited since March 4th for my coin submissions to show up.
Hello all, I just got back my first grading that I submitted. I'm new to coin collecting and I was so excided about the 5 ASE I sent in. Hoping for a 70 but knowing it might be under. Well they were 69s and I am happy that they didn?t fall under 69. My search continues for the true 70 1986 SAE. On that note can anyone tell this beginner how to tell when a coin was cleaned? Out of the five coins I sent in one came back as ?UNC Details OBV Improperly Cleaned.? Any help would be appreciated.
I going to start a ?Competitive Set? on the ?Silver National Park Quarters?. I believe I can afford to start this set. Looking to get one of the Five Ounce coins but I can not see paying the inflated rate at this time.
    Happy Collecting

New Edge View Holder obscures the obverse on small coins. See Pic
Just got my hands on a nice Jefferson Monticello Nickel 2011 and now my quest begins. The only thing I am not a fan of is the new ?Edge View Holders? on this coin. Because Jefferson?s head is right up to the edge of the coin the holder obscures some of the obverse of the coin. See Pic. Still I like the holder on other coins.

Just arrived, a Grand Canyon Five Ounce Bullion Silver Coin I got for $75.00 above spot.
I just purchased a PCGS MS64 Grand Canyon Five Ounce Bullion Silver Coin one that wouldn?t break my bank for $75.00 over spot ($37.00). The PGCS price guide puts the coin at $350.00 so I am happy with the MS64. Prices on these bullion coins are coming down. I believe the reason is many suppliers are putting up for sale so they can get their allotment for the 2011 5 ounce bullion coins. The US Mint states that they must sell all their coins before they can buy the new 2011 5 ounce coins from the US Mint. I would like to collect all five of the 5 ounce bullion coins but at this time, even with the droop in prices, the cost is too rich for me.
On another note I got back my 5 1986 ASE and they came back with a PF69 Ultra Cameo and MS69 and one that was not rated. My search will continue for an ASE that will rate a 70. I am waiting for my photos to arrive so I can add them to my collection.

Mint Dollar rolls vs Dollar Proofs
I just started my DOLLARS - PRESIDENTS PROOF sets. I just brought 3 sets of 4 DOLLARS - PRESIDENTS PROOF NGC 70s coins each. I picked up a 2007,2008, and the 2009 set. I am looking for the 2010 set. I was collecting just the US Mint dollar rolls but I sold them off. Too expensive to buy a roll of dollars value at $25.00 but cost $36.00. Granted that the sets are more expensive then the rolls but I believe the set will hold their value. The 2007 George Washington PF 70 coin along is listed for $75.00 which will make the set worth more. I paid $82.00 for the 2007 set and that is just about $7.00 more than one of the coins is worth in the set. Now not saying that the price could coming crashing down but I like the dollar proofs and it will be easy to keep the set going. No more returning a roll back to the Mint because I the roll was reveres to reveres,

    Graded coins no series...
The US Mint started selling the ATB 5 ounce silver coins. Question if NGC is grading these coins why haven?t they started a series for them. Unless I am blind I did not find any. I will be collecting these coins. The ATB 5 ounce coin last year?s is nice coin. You do not need a Magnifying Glass to see the detail in them. Any thoughts on this?
