Returned my Mount Hood and ordered the 2011-P Gettysburg Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin
Just order the 2011-P Gettysburg Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin. I am hoping that it will come nick free. My last order (twice), from the US Mint, Mount Hood 5 ounce silver coin had nicks on them. Returned one and using the money for it to buy the Gettysburg coin. I decided to not send my 2010 to collection to NGC because of the flaw Mount Hood. So I will search and buy, when I get the funds, NGC 70?s of the 2010 ATB coins. I can not believe that the US Mint sends out flaw coins that are carefully handled by gloved personnel employees.

Calling the 24th Anniversay ASE limited knowing that some of the coins were minted way before the ASE 25th case was ordered.
Question if there are only two unique coins in the 25th set what is the difference from the Eagle 25th Anniversary 2011 W Eagle S$!1 and the 2011 W Eagle S$!1 Eagle 25th Anniversary Set? Now I know there are only 100,000 from the "SET" but how do we know that the coin was minted early and put into the anniversary set. I picked up my Eagle 25th Anniversary 2011 W Eagle S$!1 Early Release 4 months ago before they announced a 25th Set. And for the grading companies calling a coin an Early Release when we all know that the coin was minted weeks or months before going into the set is hypocrisy to the 10 degree.
I have five graded ASE coins from this year. 25th 2011 ASE, PF70 Ultra cameo ER, 2011 ASE MS70 ER, ASE Struck at San Francisco Mint 70 ER( no Mint mark), 25th MS70 ER (West Point label) 25th ASE Set MS70 ER and PCGS 2011 First Strike MS 70. They only coins I am waiting on are the SF MS and Revere Proof. I have time to wait for prices to come down. I have 4 more ASE coins to send off or grading.
I like way the labels on the 25th 2011 ASE coins stand out in my case.

    Order late...Shipping Today
Not to keep hitting a dead horse but I could not get onto the Mint's order page till 5:45PM (EST) and my order went through at 05:57 PM (EST). Well today I got an email from the Mint stating that my ASEs were on the way. Check the Mint page and it read SHIPPED . So to all those still waiting do not give up hope. My number was 38388xxx. When I called the mint about my order being on backordered she told me they are waiting for the coins to arrive before they shipped them out. I ask her "was I on the waiting list" all she could tell me that the wait list was 5pm. So I knew I must be on the list even though I did not get an email from them stating it.
So hang in there and maybe you will get a Xmas gift like I just did.

Found Coins I had forgot about.
Cleaning out my Safety Deposit Box I found a surprise. I forgotten that I had some Mint wrapped Dollars still in their white Mint box ,one not in a box.
    One 1$ roll M. Fillmore (P)
    AMERICAN SAMOA STATE QUARTERS (P) & (D)
ZACHARY TAYLOR DOLLARS SEALED BOX ZT4 (D)
US MINT JAMES POLK DOLLARS SEALED BOX JP4 (D)
I just forgot about them. Oh Yes, and three 2010 Silver Eagles...thought I had only one.
Christmas is coming up and they will make a nice gift.

If you want to know if you order is on the wait list and the number to file a complaint read below.
For those who do not know if their orders are on a wait list or not here is the answer. If you order was taken after 5pm then you are on the wait list. I just confirmed this with a order taker at the US Mint web site. She also told me that people have been calling in mad that their order(s) have been cancelled. It will take sometime for the Mint to catch up with the orders. It is safe to say if you ordered before 4:40 PM EST then you are okay. Now I asked her if the Mint will increase the limit because of the trouble people had getting in and the answer was that is the rumor going around. But her experience is that when the Mint set a limit it is set.
So keep your fingers cross. Oh yes for those flippers on Ebay a lot of them have been taken down by Ebay only to be replaced by others.
If you are mad about the ASE troubles here is a the direct number to the US Mint Catalog Coin complaint department 202-354-6675. And here is the direct number to the US Mint. United States Mint telephone hours: Weekdays 9:00am to 5:30pm EST, except holidays.
    Telephone: (202) 756-6468
    Fax: (202) 756-6200

What is meant by the US Mint backorder and on hold process?
For those like myself that are worried that their order will be cancelled because of the process of being on hold or backorder please read the following post off of the minnewsblog.
The Mint uses the word ?backorder? in a different way that most people are familiar with.
Most companies are sellers, not manufacturers, so when an item is on ?backorder,? that means that they have run out of that item, and need to order more from the manufacturer. That may take days or weeks or even months, so the company is telling the customer that he has to wait until the product comes in.
The Mint is both manufacturer and seller, so when they say ?backorder,? they mean that the order is backed up until the coins are minted, assembled, and then shipped to the fulfillment center for mailing.
The Mint uses ?hold? to mean that they need time to verify that the order is legitimate (in this case, not more than 5 sets per household) and that the customer?s credit card has sufficient funds. ?In process? means that verification has been done, and now all it takes is for the Mint to see if there are enough sets ready for mailing.
?In stock and reserved? means that the coins have been assembled into sets and ready to be shipped to the fulfillment center, and that all verifications have been made. At this point, the Mint has ACCEPTED the order ? prior to this, the Mint has only RECEIVED the order. Once the set is labeled for mailing, then you will receive a ?Shipped? notice and tracking number (though the actual mailing date may be the next day).
?Suspended? is something new to me. I suppose that is used when a later order is made after the household limit has been reached. I have never seen a ?Waiting List? message on the online order receipt or email confirmation, but then, I have never been put on a waiting list.
To sum up, once you see ?In process? and/or ?In stock and reserved,? you can safely assume that you will get your coins. ?Hold? and ?Backorder? are used routinely and does not mean that you will not get your coins.

Those who have an order from the US Mint on the ASE 25th Set after 6 PM are on hold
To all who got in after 6 PM you order will be on hold until the Mint digests the orders. Some orders will be kicked back for over the limit or credit card problems Others will be put on a waiting last. That happen to a friend when he order the Lincoln pennies only to see his order change from hold to cancelled. So check your orders tomorrow to see if it is on a hold or backorder. Good luck to those who order.

Now I do not put much on this set because in five years there will be an 30th Anniversary Set. However, "based on the available information, the 25th Anniversary Set will include two very significant coins in the American Silver Eagle series. These are the 2011-P Reverse Proof Silver Eagle and the 2011-S Uncalculated Silver Eagle. Provided these coins are not offered in any other format, they would have a maximum mintage of 100,000 pieces. These two coins would become the second lowest mintage Silver Eagles across all years and formats, after the rare 1995-W Proof Silver Eagle, which has a mintage of 30,125? according to Mint News Blog.
I already own one 2011 ASE 25th Adversary PF70 and there are ASE SF MS70 2011, ASE MS70 billion out there already.
I am just mad at the mint for not have a one per house hold limit. That way it would give us honest coin collectors a chance to get one set. Not get as many as one can and sell it on the secondary market?. REALLY US MINT!!!!
I am waiting for the dreaded email from the US Mint stating my order has been cancelled or put on a wait list. I order my set at 5:54PM EST. My fingers are crossed.
    Happy Collecting
PS this is what the US Mint posted on its Facebook page:
We apologize to those of you having difficulty getting through to place orders for the 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set. Our ordering system has been running at capacity ? in fact, orders were placed for approximately 25,000 sets during the first hour of sales.
We are committed to improving your online ordering experience and have recently awarded a contract that will result in a new, state of art order management system. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work toward implementing this new system in 2012.

According to Mint News Blog the US Mint has priced the 25th Anniversary ASE Set at $299.95.
Here is what Michael wrote on his blog.:
The United States Mint has announced the pricing for the 25th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set as $299.95 per set. This price will remain subject to potential change based on the market price of silver leading up to the release and throughout the period of availability. Pricing for the set has been an object of speculation for the many collectors eagerly awaiting the release. Although the price is higher than some people had been estimating, personally, I had expected the price to be even higher.
Each set will contain the following five coins:
? 2011 Proof Silver Eagle (W mint mark)
? 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagle (W mint mark)
? 2011 Uncirculated Silver Eagle (S mint mark)
? 2011 Reverse Proof Silver Eagle (P mint mark)
? 2011 Silver Eagle bullion coin (no mint mark, but struck at the San Francisco Mint)
The US Mint currently sells proof Silver Eagles individually for $58.95 each and uncirculated Silver Eagles individually at $50.95 each. The bullion versions are sold to authorized purchasers in bulk quantities based on the market price of silver plus a mark up of $2 per coin.
The 2011 Reverse Proof Silver Eagle and 2011-S Uncirculated Silver Eagle are not offered individually and are not expected to be available in any other numismatic products, making these coins unique to the set.
The Mint has also confirmed that they will produce ?up to 100,000 sets? with a household ordering limit of 5 sets to be imposed for at least the first week of sales. Orders will be accepted starting on October 27, 2011 at 12:00 Noon ET.

    To open or not.
I was debating to or not to open the PBGS shipping box. To send the coin off for grading without looking at it was not at the top of my list for me. I can do without and ER label. When I open the box and looked at the coin...just one word. WOW! I wasn't going to buy this coin but when the price dropped to $229.99 I could not resist and I am glad I did. It is a beautiful coin.

    Only 100,000 will be avialible.
The US has set a limited for the ASE 25th Anniversary Set to 100,000 at a 5 limite per house hold. Which I believe the coins will go fast if everyone orders 5 ASE it will comes to a total of 20,000. On the US Mint page, on the product index page, has the 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set Price: $229.95. That is about what the 5oz ATBs go for.

The mint has listed the 2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set at $229.00
2011 American Eagle 25th Anniversary Silver Coin Set is priced the same as the 5 ounce ATBs. On the US Mint's product index has the 25th priced at $229 the same as the 5 ounce ATBs. The Mint might change the price when it is on sale but I can not see them pricing it more then the 5 ounce ATBs or 5 AE coins.

Is it an Ultimate Lincoln as described in the auction I won?
Just received in the mail my 1992-P Lincoln Cent NGC MS 69 RD. The coin to the necked eye looks like a 70 but I need a better glass to view it, one coming in the mail soon. Anyway, I picked up this coin for $180.00 and I did not tell my wife how much I paid for it. I believe I got a good deal on it. NGC list it in the coin price guide at $630.00 at a total grade 69 at 6. Since I am new to collecting, any of you seasoned coin veteran?s thoughts on this coin and purchase. Thanks in advance for your views.

Life is grand when you find a coin.
You know how some people walk down the street and see a penny on the ground and just walk over it. I pick the up to see if they are worth my efforts. Well while surfing eBay I came across a penny that had a date close to my heart. Love finding coins that were minted the year I was born.

Nice 5 ounce coin see it is to believe it. See Photo
Today I feel like a kid again on Christmas day. My coins cam in and they are beautiful. The Hot Spring ATB coin from the US Mint is something to stare. And just received I got my PF 70?s President Dollars year 2007,2008, and 2009. I shall wait till I get all five ATB 5 ounce before I send them in to NGC.

I can not believe it has happened again...
I can not win with the Mint. This is the second coin with damage. The first was on the obverse side of the coin a small nick on the rim not noticeable if I was just showing the reverse side but not good for grading. Now I receive the second ATB Mount Hood coin it is worst than the first one. Now the marks are on the reverse side and are very noticeable. Displaying this coin I won?t. Now I have a choice to make. Send back the coin, since I have two now, and hope for a clean coin or just sell it on eBay and take my lost of note getting a 70 from NGC when I submit it for grading. If I send it back I will just be out $15.00 the cost of insurance and shipping. Your thoughts on this my fellow Collectors.

Now I can return the coin.
US Mint Release the limit on the Mount Hood 5 Ounce ATB coin
I previously wrote about the American The Beautiful Mount Hood 5 ounce coin that I received from the US Mint that had edge damage. And I was pondering if I should return it and take the chance of a sell out. Well the Mint released the household limite on the ATB coin and I now have one on its way to me. I will send back the damage one and hope the one I will receive tomorrow will have no damage on it. Here?s to wishfull thinking.

#1 Jefferson Nickels, Westward Journey, 2004-2005, Proof Issue
I am new to the Collection Society this year. I am not a fellow with wealth so it is hard in these days to come up with the change to purchases coins that I would like to add to my collections. So I have to start small ad small I have. I have reached a number one position on a competitive set, Jefferson Nickels, Westward Journey, 2004-2005, Proof Issue. It feels good have a set completed. One down and many more to come. Now all I need is some luck searching to complete the rest of my sets. I figure it will take me sometime to finish some sets.

UPDATE: Should I return the Mount Hood ATB coin that has a small ding on the rim above the ?S? ? Yes is the answer....
I want to thank everyone for the response to my coin ding. I called up the Mint and a women told me to send it in for another one. But what she could not tell me is if I would receive a coin back guarantee. Unlike the last two ATB coins the Mint lifted the limited it has done so yet. So my belief i the coins are still selling at a pace the Mint likes. If I sent it back I might not get one back if they sell out. So I order it and used a different address. Hopefully that will get me the second coin so I can return the ding coin. What makes me mad is that these coins are held to a different standard in the production why did it have a DING?

Should I return the Mount Hood ATB coin that has a small ding on the rim above the ?S? ?
Just received my ATB Mount Hood 5 ounce coin today and not the best of the five I feel. I asked my daughter to open the US Mint shipping box which held the ATB coin. After that she opened the ATB US Mint box and when she looked at the Obverse side she notice right away that there was a slight nick on the rim. My dilemma is this, I was thinking of sending all five coins to get graded but I feel that the Mount Hood with the ding will get me a lower grade. A friend told me to order another one and when that one comes in send back the ding ATB coin. I am up in the air with this. I am tapped out and saving for the AE 25th Anniversary set. Should I take the chance that the next coin will not have dings or just go with the flow and send it in anyway? Your thoughts on this fellow Collectors.

ASE SF should it be added to the ASE West Point coins in a collections of Anniversary PF & MS ASE?
Yesterday I received my PF 70 2011 25th Anniversary American Silver Eagle and my collection is almost done. I have 1986 PF 69 and MS 69 First Year Issue ASE green label, a 2006 ASE PF 70 20th Anniversary, a 2011 ASE PCGS ER PF MS 70 25th Anniversary. To complete my set I am looking for 2006 ASE MS 70.
When the Mint releases the ASE MS SF in September I will be sending them off hoping for a 70. I am debating about adding the San Francisco minted ASE to the collection of West Point ASEs.
So my collection should be the years 1986,2006,2011 ? First Year Issue ? 20th Anniversary - 25th Anniversary, I will be looking for 1986 to send into NCG hoping for a couple of 70?s.. Let the wait begin. I?ll add photos when I get a better camera to photograph the coins.
I do have the 2006 Anniversary set but I am not breaking it up to get it graded. I like the case it is in.

Coin enter is own by someone else. What to do...
My surprise when I entered my 2004 JEFFERSON 5C HANDSHAKE NGC PF70 ULTRA CAM into the registry only to find that the person who sold it to me still has it up in their coin collection or the person who sold it to him has. Now I have to wait till NGC contacts the former owner and he/she releases it. Or I will be pissed off. This is the second time this has happen. The frist time I contacted the seller and he removed the coin that day. God bless him.

Wondering if they will be any made for the year 2012 and up.
Just complete the National Parks Quarters 2010-Date, Proof set to date. Although I have 4 PF 69s I am hoping to find replacement for them. The way silver is going up it might take sometime. Money is an issue here after I purchased all 5 of the US Mint Collectors 2010 ATB 5 ounce silver. Next I am working on the US Presidential Dollar series, which might be moot if they stop making the series because of expense of making the coins and a new vault to hold all the coins that have been returned or not sold.

If the Presidential Dollars Series Stop what happens to the vaule?
Coin News on July 15th reported that a? California Congresswoman is planning to introduce a bill to immediately halt production of dollar coins. I have not seen the exact language of the bill, but this would seem to immediately end the Presidential and Native American Dollars series, and by extension the First Spouse Gold Coin series.? Since I am new to collecting and started my competitive set on Presidential Dollars will the value of the coins go up or down?

I love the look of Numismatic 5oz ATB's from the Mints. Do I send them out and hope for 70's or not.
I just stated to collect coins. I have four of five 2010 Numismatic collectible US Mint American the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Uncalculated Coins and One PCGS MS64 2010 US Mint Hot Springs Five Ounce Silver. My numismatic five ounce ATB coins in their mint boxes look so nice on my shelf. My thought is should I send them in to NGC to be graded and chance getting lower grade? I do not like putting these beautiful coins in a coin slab. I already have one in a slab and not my favorite looking slab. I am only getting the 2010 series and not the rest of the series. Looking for any feed back on this.
