Thanks Alan. I looked for 4 months to find one that pretty but within my price range. It's not a rare year/mm, but it caught my eye.

My newest addition to my 20th Century Type Set. I took two sets of photos, one with direct light highlighting the luster, and the other with diffused light highlighting the beautiful detail and surfaces.

This is a pattern example of the Monaco 100 Francs coin of 1950. Total mintage of 500 pieces. This coin exhibits a very strong strike, with some nice toning and cameo contrast to the devices (especially on the reverse). The coin was struck in silver, and bears the text "ESSAI" beneath the horse to denote the pattern strike.

A nice new toned quarter in the relatively scarce and short-lived NGC Holder type 8 (according to the post of Conder101, NGC 8 is described as -- "The serial numbers have been reduced in size and moved from above the barcode to beneath it. This proved to be very unpopular and NGC 8 lasted only for about four weeks in August and Sept of 2000.")
If you haven't read Conder101's post regarding the history of NGC Slabs, you can find it here: Conder101 NGC Slab Description Post
Interestingly, this coin also has the "T" designation noting its dark and prominent "Toning".

Nice coin Alan. I got one graded MS68 across the street, and for dirt cheap also (less than $25). It's a beautiful coin, and of course I'm partial to the horse image.

Hello HT, can you tell me, is the die crack on the reverse through the "A" and the "7" normal? Like I said, I'm just now starting to poke around in this arena, and I can see why people get addicted to these. When you have one in hand (even in plastic) they are entrancing!!
