  1. People of the Forum!

1997 ASE one step closer to a completed set. The coin is not very old but I think this design is one of my favorite. I hope to start a set of WLHs soon.

The devices reflection through the slab is distracting but I am working on my photo skills too!

    Update: My daughter Sadie's birthyear.

  2. Prudden! Glorious PU indeed, in my opinion looks PL to me. The frost devices contrasted over gleaming fields??, reverse doesn't quite match the glory of the OB, but a solid strike with considerable luster. Nice presentation of an old favorite of mine. I have a goal to recover that coin one day, to redeem a past saddness when all I had was that coin:( and HAD to sell it to stay afloat. There are actually a few gems I want back in my collection.

    Thanks for sharing :headbang:

You aren't saying thiis Morgan belonged to you at one time?No way!! I think it's one of the nicest MS 66's I've seen. The seller had three or four other MS 66 Morgans at auction tonight as well. This 81S was the best of the group. Now I can sell my PCGS 65,hopefully for a small profit.

No Way am I saying this specific coin. I just bought my first MS 65 coin tuesday this week.

But I had this coin and other Morgans that I sold in 1979/80 at a low point in my life. I coin was raw and perhaps AU 58 to MS 61 from Littleton coin investment co. I think this was before the Morgan dropped in price.

    Just a little sentimental reflection that's a'll.

  4. Another fine example of the Liberty V nickels. Do you collect the proofs as well or just business strikes?

Dwaine, this set of V nickels started with a old incomplete whitman book from my grandfather. Mostly pocket change specimens you know AG to G-4. I then started to collect VG to XF samples for a dansco book. When I joined this forum, I decided, heck with the VG to XF stuff off E-Bay. Over the last year I have focused on Unc to BU (ones I can afford) and saving for the 1885 1886 1912S in UNC.

I currently do not own a Proof but I am eyeing on of Mark Feld's proofs on his web site!

    Thanks for asking.

  5. Keeper! ^^

Fish, looking at the coins here, when you fault your "camera's justice" It makes me think (I) have a REALLY suckie camera! lol

Cool pictures and cool coin. I don't own a Walking Liberty but have and always will "love" the great artistry. I hope to make that my next collection center piece.

    Peace

  6. So about a month ago I was at an antique shop in MA looking around on a cold Saturday. I spied a book of coins and flipped through the pages. There were some really worn barbers, lincolns and 2cent pieces, some highly corroded with PVC damage. So I flipped a few more pages and found a really dark 1858 Flying Eagle 1C piece in nice condition....for $18. Very little wear and it was my lucky day....it was on sale and I picked it up for $14. I took it out of the package and it was covered in a dark brown grease and it was UGLY. I packed it up and shipped it off to NCS for conservation and then to be graded. I just got the pics today and it graded AU 53. I was hoping for a bit higher, but not bad for about $50 total.

How about the I-wish-it-was-my-find" award! ^^
