That Huguenot is an interesting coin. Did you see "William the Silent" on the obverse? I also love the ship on the reverse. It's a ship from the Netherlands and the people the coin represents are the Walloons. There's an interesting story on each of these early commemoratives that I read about before I buy each one. There's just so much history with each one of these that make them a joy to collect. I hope my rambling made a little bit of sense. hehe

thanks and you all will be the first to see the set once it's completed. I'm going to a local coin show the last weekend of this month and I plan on showing off my set, as it is. I'm in a small town and from what the local collectors tell me I'll be the only one showing the early commem's.
I might bring the moderns but most of mine are in Prestige sets and they aren't always easy to carry.
I'm so excited to go to my first show! I will let you all know how it goes and maybe I'll even get a chance at a coin or two.

I'm starting to get gold fever. I just can't take my eyes off of my first spouses. They're dazzling to say the least.
TY for the kudos on the commem's.

Thanks for the great feedback bsshog! I love the strike on both of those coins. The Iowa is a MS67 and the BTW is a MS66. The Iowa is now my highest graded early commemorative. It takes some money to go higher than MS67. That reminds me, is this where I beg for money?

The postman cometh. I recently acquired a couple of pieces I was missing and the newer commemorative is from an ebay seller who sent me the wrong coin which I sent back and then he sent the correct one with this 1989 Congress Bicentennial coin as a reward for my honesty. I'll mention his ebay name as I have found him to be a good seller. He is hsturn with Vintage Coin Company.

I agree that 37 WLH is high on the wow factor!
Skyman I thought I'd share that I also have a PR70UC of that coin. I bought it before the MS version and the MS pickup was actually an accident. I am glad I got them both however. No I didn't get the PCGS version. Someone is trying to sell one on ebay for over 3500$. I got to tell you I don't see a difference of 2800$ from the NGC version but that's just me.
Peace all

ty for the kind words on my new commem's. I really like the civil war commemorative coins. Ever since I got my first silver dollar and half dollar in the Civil War Prestige set I knew I wanted the gold pieces as well and after weeks of waiting here they are.
