You may want to give that a second look. That is a large date cent.

I think "The Way of the Woolly Mammoths " would be a good band name.
And, I agree that the cent posted above has been stained by contact with a Memorial Cent reverse and some substance which caused the design to be transferred. Not a mint error.
Keep hunting, though, TON. You are finding some interesting stuff, and your attitude is good.

Try Numista. It has listings of many kinds of tokens. You might also try contacting Stephen Alpert or Steve Hayden. Alpert is an author (I hope he is still alive), and Hayden is a dealer, mostly in CWTs, but handles other types as well.
On that subject, the  coin world in general, and the token world in particular,  lost a friend and valuable resource when Rich Hartzog passed away a few years ago.He was a great source of information for all things exonumia.
TAMS, and NTCA are two other sources you might try.
I also found some book titles by a French author, and I have the address of a French  token collectors society, if you want to take it that far.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. It is possible that the same or similar event/process caused the marks on the two coins. After all, a cent is a 3/4 inch x approx.1/16 inch (mostly) copper disc, and that may come in handy for several different reasons/applications. I remember stories of people replacing a burned out fuse in their basement fuse box with a cent (hopefully temporarily), because it was the right size, and conducted electricity well. Maybe there was a popular brand of bean sheller or block plane or pipe cutter that worked better with a cent-sized shim in a certain place. The marks could have been caused by the machine, or even by prying the cent out of the machine with a screwdriver or similar tool.

I know that you want your coin to be a DDO-001, and be rare and valuable, and I don't blame you one bit. I would want it too. But I, and the other responders are not trying to be mean, or to burst your bubble. We are just being honest. If your coin were the real thing, every person on these boards would be able to tell it just from looking at your very first picture. It would be that obvious. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and pictures with different lighting and from different angles will not change that fact.

Not really. People have coins slabbed for many reasons, some of which might seem odd or different or a waste of money to other people. I have seen other coins in slabs that were graded simply because they were colorful like yours. Everyone has different reasons for doing things, and,in this case, there really is no right or wrong. I would leave it in the Airtite, if it were mine, but you do what you like.
BTW, that '56 looks like a proof.
For what it is worth, I have never had anything graded, either.

Well, I discovered that there is at least one other piece in existence, which also has the die crack, but not the clip. It is on the National Token Collectors Association website, but it is listed as a maverick - no town, no country. Sorry,I could not be more help.

A coin can get caught between the inner and outer drums of a dryer, and the rolling between them will wear the rim down, sometimes dramatically,  as in the picture below:(picture from Cointalk)

You should go back and re-read the thread. There were only two responses to your original post: one by Conder101, and one more further down by jgrinz. Every other post in this thread was either by Travis Hale, or directed toward something he wrote. Since I was one of those posters, let me first apologize for taking part in the hijacking of your thread, but let me also say that I really don't appreciate being told to stick anything anywhere, sideways or otherwise. That comment was very "high school."
AS for your '29 Lincoln, I would call it VG. That one would be fun to find in circulation.
