My Icelandic coin Collection
Well its been a very interesting year for my collection of Icelandic coins. First, I found out that the 1939 1 Eyrir really had three different varieties for this date which I found the last one about two months ago, KM only states that there are only two. Second, I found a later die state repunched 9 of 29 for the 1929 10 aurar in a real nice unc. Third, A wonderful 1946 2 Kronur with great mint luster just like the day it was minted well maybe the next day. this type of coin is all most impossible to find like this. And Finally my best bunch is the 5, Yes 5 proof Icelandic coins dated from 1958 to 1963. Now these are the ones that are so impossible to find considering that they only produced somewhere between 10 to 15 for each year and denominations and this little bit of info came from a man in Iceland that works for the numismatic museum there. I was told that they only made these for visiting government people to the mint in London from Iceland. This same man also brokered the purchase of two of these proofs coins from the family of a former Bank director that served the national bank for many years The remaining three other proofs came from my other sources in Iceland. These five proofs have yet to be graded and will be sent to NCS first then to NGC. And I also found some nice other Icelandic coins to add to my collection as well but this are the main coins worth mentioning here.
Well I hope everyone had a great year of collecting and I wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a great new years
