I read an article in Coin World that I found very interesting!
....The U.S. Mint and General Mills ran a promotional program, where 5,500 Sacagawea 2000-P dollars were placed at random in Cheerios cereal boxes. The reverse was struck from dies that were different than the circulation and annual collector sets. A collector got one on EBAY recently for $9,999.99!!!!!!!It was a PCGS MS-66.
....Now, I don't know about you, but I've never found anything in a cereal box that was worth anything. I talked to my wife about this articile and asked her if she had ever found a coin in her Cheerios. She thinks maybe she found a penny, they had also put a Lincoln penny in the boxes. Also, my wife was teaching school and some students had spent some Sacagaweas at school. My wife got a couple in change and gave them to me. She wondered if they could have come from Cheerios? I wasn't interested and don't know what I did with them.
....I know back in 2000 I wasn't smart enough to say I'll put these away and when I learn about and become intested in certifeid coins, I'll send them in and see if they are worth anything!!
....The picture is my latest return from NGC. I just really enjoy the designs the Canada mint brings out! Tomorrow is the big day, EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT THANKSGIVING!
