#1 COIN ON "15 MOST WANTED LIST" IS NOW IN CUSTODY!!!
3 Year Wait Is Over!
This afternoon at 4:00 PM, an E-mail from a dealer about new listings arrived on my desk. Nothing exciting in the first group of coins; however, the second catagory contained my elusive target- an 1872 2 Cent MS-62 Brown: PCGS.
I've been searching for an "affordable" uncirculated example of this coin for 3 years!! A quick call to verify availability and description, and it's now mine!!!
I don't know what is more exciting:
-Scratching this target off my list. I've only found two of 15 this year (#1 & #2).
or
-Putting the last MS coin needed in my 2 cent set.
As a side note, my pattern of good things coming in pairs is continuing. In previous journal entries, I've noted that I found my 1901-S and 1913-S Barber quarters, in AU, sitting side-by-side in a dealer's inventory- May, 2002.
My 1894-O and 1895-O Mint State Barber Dimes were found together at another dealer's site in May, 2005.
On July 20, I was offered an 1853-O NA Half Dime in AU-50: a coin so seldom encountered that I didn't bother to put it on my List of 15. Today (7/26), I find my 1872 MS 2 Cent. Good things are still coming in two's.
Fortunately, this is happening at 2 to 3 year intervals, or my budget would collapse under the pressure.
I LOVE THIS HOBBY!!!
