IGC vs NGC

Past experiences?

Alright, I really can't invest the amount of money that I would like to in my coins. A two hundred dollar purchase is pushing it, at least with the wife, and that would be enough for at least 6 months. Needless to say, I am always looking for the bargains. I'm always looking at auction sites and seeing if there is something I can afford. My primary "obsession" is the 1971 proof set. There was a 1971 PF69UCAM cent on HA and I had put 500 as a bid. I would ask for forgivness later, plus I also know that it's a 10k plus coin, so, what are the chances? When the auction ended, it had sold for 800. I was in shock, thinking that for 300 more, I really could of been in the dog house, but at least I would of went to second place on my set. People really arn't selling high grade proof 1971, so to see one on auction is a rarity in itself.

On one auction, a person was listing a 1971 cameo nickel, IGC graded. When I check it out, it was graded as a PF 69 DCAM. I did win the auction and it was just over $26 with shipping. QUESTION IS: Who has tried to cross grade an IGC coin with NGC, and was it the same grade, or did it get knocked down a grade? I've heard tell that IGC should be ranked up there with the "big two", but this is my first purchase of this kind of slab. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Please wrtie me with your experiences.
