The New Godless Dollars - Blank edge
I've bought a few of these and am hoping there will be a way to tell the philly mint no edge coins from the Denver mint no edge coins.
I am a little surprised to see this kind of error on a US coin. The inscription is, after all, required by law to be on the coin.
When these coins first came out I was really disapointed. I had waited on line to receive them on the first day, and after looking at over 500 of them and not finding a single coin I thought would grade MS66 I made the choice not to send them in for grading.
NOW I AM EXCITED!!!!
These coins are starting to look like they could be VAM heaven!!!!!
And the king of the VAMS is looking like the no edge. Now instead of having the P and the D, we are going to have the P and the D and the NO INSCRIPTION - GODLESS DOLLAR!
If they can't fix this, they may have to re-design the coin. If they do not re-design the coin, the FIX will no doubt be another variety.
We all know that the upside down and rightside up edge type is intentional and evenly distributed among the mintage, but it is still a type1 and a type2 coin. So I am up to 5 coins without any double dies or diebreaks or etc...
This could be the start to an extreemly interesting series.
