Why pay a premium for regular coins?

The mint charges "A MINT" for rolls of the new dollars...

Not to mention all the other coins they sell direct. When you purchase coins direct from the mint, you are getting the same business strikes everybody else is going to get, only you get them first, and at a much higher price.

I was not too interested in getting a "First Day" holder or any of that other hoop-ala. I just wanted some nice coins, without breaking MY bank. Today I went to my local bank and bought a roll of the denver dollars. Guess what they cost me... $25 bucks, which was exactly the same number of dollars in the roll... can you believe it.. I paid "FACE" value for real coins issued by the US Mint..man, am I lucky or what!!

So, I get the roll home, ripped it open to examine my little gold gems. As several people on this forum have mentioned, the damage done in rolling was considerable, however, I did find three very nice examples of our Golden George. I feel very good knowing I got three excellent coins for face value and a few minutes of my time. The other 22 coins, which look like they had been in a L.A. gang fight, will find useful lives in circulation. I think it was a good collecting day, and look forward to doing it again soon.

Respectfully,

Michael Cooper

p.s. This George has 1 small contact mark to the left of his face. You can see it under mag but otherwise not. Nice coin.
