Parsippany Coin Show

Nice crowd for a SuperBowl Weekend!

As usual, it was shoulder to shoulder at 9AM when I showed up. There were a few "missing" vendors and a few that I had not seen for a month or two. A nice selection of raw and slabbed coins. I had forgotton the bag with the coins I wanted to trade and only had $140 to spend. I spent an hour or two looking at raw 'semi-modern" coins in the hope of finding something I might want to send in for my birthyear mint sets. This was not to be on this trip.

I did however find a few nice G8-F25 Buffalos for my Dansco. I picked up both the 1924 D and S and a nice 1914 S.

The funny thing is that I got a call from the guy that sold me the 24S (I had left my number so he could get back to me on some more coins) , apparently he had sold the nickel he sold me twice and wanted to know if he could trade me for it so as not to upset one of his other customers.

I took down the address of the guy he wanted me to mail the coin to, and told him we could settle up at the next coin show. Apparently he has another coin I need, the 1916D and suggested that he might come up with another 24S by the time we meet in march :)

One of the things that has surprised me about my new hobby, is all the interesting people I have met since starting to collect coins.

I thought, when I started, that this would be a rather solitary venture. I liked the idea of sitting home alone, quietly looking at and organizing my coins. It never occured to me that I would meet so many true characters and interesting people from all walks of life.

What an unexpected treasure that part of my newfound hobby has been.

For those of you who have made this more than "just about the coin" I would like to say...

Thank You.
