Polish 1925 20 Zl
Received the coin back this weekend.
Body Bagged as not genuine.
This leaves me with a lot of questions. I don't know if the coin is made of gold or is gold plated or something else, In fact, I don't know anything other than the expert an NGC does not think the coin is genuine.
I wonder why, for the $30, we don't get a little more information. I am sure that when a coin is not genuine there is some simple explaination like, "Not Gold", "Wrong Weight", "Forged Die" etc... In order to make the determination that a coin is not genuine, there must have been a tangable sign. Unlike a grade on a coin that is subjective, a fake coin must have some physical attribute ( or lack thereof ) that qualifies it as such.
Afterall, it is not like that information isn't right there in the mind of the grader, just waiting for a check box
Hmmmmmmmm. I suppose I can take it to one of the coin shops near where I work in NYC and ask them if they can confirm the metal content of the coin, and perhaps confirm NGC's opinion of the coin.
In the mean time I won several polish coins for my Mother-in-laws Signature set that I hope to send in for grading and inclusion in her set over the next month or so.
