Mom is bored with "coin talk"/ loves journal entries!!!

My mother lives quite a distance from me, so we talk on the phone regularly and get together only infrequently. When I turn the conversations to coins (As I invariably do), she feigns interest for awhile, but then develops that "glazed eye" look. She frequently asks why coins interest me so much, but no matter how I try to explain; she just doesn't get it.

During one phone conversation, I mentioned the NGC coin journals and she said, "send me a copy." Mom does not have a computer or any interest in one. So I mailed her copies of what I had written to that point.

Something amazing happened. While no coin or verbal discussion of coins had ever interested her, even slightly, Mom was intrigued with the writings of my thoughts and experiences- Go Figure!! Now when we talk she says, "Have you written anything else, lately?" We've developed a coin connection through the Journal entries.

This is a great place for me to record my thoughts, ideas, and comments of numismatic significance. It allows me to view over a period of time what is and has been important to me in my collecting; a recording of significant events and activities that are noteworthy. Those things that I want to share with Mom now, and recall later.
