From PCGS toNGC Grading 0 Entry posted by DavidTaylor · August 3, 2019 1,445 views I have a few PCGS coins but most are NGC, can i have the PCGS coins reslabbed to NGC? 0
rons Posted August 3, 2019 Yes, but why would you spend the money for that? If you want all ngc coins then sell or trade the pigs coins for ngc. $20 a coin plus shipping adds up quick. Link to comment
CBC Posted August 3, 2019 You can submit PCGS coins to NGC for crossover, but my experience is that NGC will frequently reject the PCGS grade and return the coin in its PCGS slab. They still charge the full grading fee. I have submitted about a dozen PCGS coins to NGC over the years, with about half coming back in NGC slabs. My track record with ANACS is actually better - all of the five or six ANACS coins I submitted have graded the same with NGC, with no rejects - but I have also been very picky when evaluating ANACS coins for crossover. Add in the fact that PCGS coins typically sell for higher prices than identically graded NGC coins, there's seldom a good reason to try. Link to comment

Ron that's something i didn't think about, but some of my coins are hard to replace and are low mintage... i'm not sure how i go about trading coins. Link to comment
rons Posted August 4, 2019 You can always post here with what you have and what you want. The price is right Link to comment
deposito Posted August 4, 2019 For my favorite collections I do want all the coins NGC slabbed only, since they look better that way on my desk, and the point of the collections is to show continuity. As part of doing this I have broken out and submitted PCGS and ANACS coins to send to NGC. Sometimes I send them with the original tag from the old holder, sometimes not. All have graded the same, or a little higher, with one exception that went from PCGS MS62 to NGC MS60. The point of the crossover was not to get a higher grade but to have the coins in the same holders. Weird? OK. If you ask my wife, collecting coins is weird already. For USA coins I think I would never go from PCGS to NGC, although I am barely a USA collector. My understanding is that PCGS graded USA coins are taken more seriously and sell better. If you are going to submit a coin, and are not sensitive about the crossover being the same or higher, I'd break out your coin so you can have a chance to video/photograph it without the plastic and prongs interfering. It can be hard enough to recover grading fees on resale as it is for some coins. Recovering a 2nd round of fees and shipping can be darn near impossible unless you're dealing with high-end coins. But, I wouldn't call it a waste if he wants it. One of these days I'm likely to reholder my 10G set and maybe send some of the ones in fatties for review to see if they can pick up a point. Just reholdering these coins would likely cost close to $200 after shipping and fees but I would love to have all the coins in the set in the same generation of holder as I think that would make a great presentation / display for a set I've been working on for 12 years through highs and lows in my life. It's not all about money. It's a hobby. It should be fun. Sometimes you spend / lose money on a hobby that you never get back. 11 hours ago, Just Bob said: Do you feel better after venting your frustration in three different threads? Tony Chinni Posted June 10, 2020 Not worth changing the rating unless you have money to burn. Apparently the main two coin evaluators are in harsh competition and slight differences in their headings. Opinions vary but both companies are highly respected. Link to comment
Iceman Posted June 12, 2020 I have about 6 or 7 PCGS graded coins that I have plans on crossing over to NGC in the near future and I'm not really concerned about 1 point higher or lower ....It just doesn't matter....What matters is how my set looks like..... I agree with deposito ... I like the set to look uniform..... but I have noticed one thing about PCGS with world coins is that they tend to grade a point above NGC while NGC seems to grade more conservatively which is fine with me. and that's one of the things that I like about NGC...In my opinion PCGS has a cult following and believe they can never do wrong..Like Trump groupie's. But $20 a coin is cheaper that $50 plus you will pay for most of them on ebay.😛😛 rons 1 Link to comment
