Dropping from 16 to 5 Coins

Trading quantity for quality! I'm consolidating collection from 16 lower-grade coins to 5 finer coins. Overall value of the collection will remain about the same. Even though I'm a minimalist, I still like quality. Had to try the lower grade stuff to see whether it would fit. It didn't fit me well. I will still be targeting only about 20 Types to keep the collection small and affordable. Here's another new acquisition. This new MS67 Morgan replaces an MS65 and a few other coins.

Minimalist Collecting: Passion

What drives you? Why do you collect? Is it Passion about coins? I love to view great things: the architecture of the Atlantis Resort or, fancy casinos; a $17,000 PF 68 Barber Half with monster toning or a high resolution photo of an 1804 Draped Bust Dollar; or well-dressed, high-society people. Seeing them brings pleasure, but I don't have to own them to enjoy them. There's nothing wrong with owning them. There wouldn't be an Atlantis Resort if some entity didn't own and maintain it.

Minimalist Collecting

Minimalism hits Registry Collecting. I know I'm not the first one that's needed to downsize a collection. I have figured out that enjoying this fabulous hobby doesn't demand that one be super rich. I've replaced sixty-something coins valued at $100,000 with twenty-three valued at less than $5000. Yes!...a 95% reduction. I believe one can have a terrific collection, yet not spend a fortune. It will mean, for those competing in the Registry, much lower rankings. So what! It's not only ab

Monster Barber Half

A dream come true Ever since I started the hobby at age ten, I wanted to own a killer MS or PF Barber Half. I have finally purchased the one of my dreams. I will add it to the registry in a few days.

Re-Holdered

Beasts to Beauties I purchased an NGC 1936 Satin 5C PF67 and an NGC 1924 25C MS67FH a couple months ago in badly scratched holders (especially the quarter.) Actually, the coins weren't beasts, but superb coins in beastly garb. I just received them back from being re-holdered in NGC's new scratch-resistant holders. The coins' tremendous qualities show through wonderfully in them. It was worth every penny to have them done.

New Barber Half

Looks like it was just minted I finally replaced my Barber Half. I sold off a PR67CAM that I wasn't happy with. The new one is only PR66CAM, but it is a superior example of the grade. The piece looks like it was minted in 2009 instead of 1999. This coin has no right to exist, or so it seems.

Added Bio

Added new Saint to collections I added my bio today. I also added a high-end MS66 Saint to my collections, replacing a dingy MS65 that I sold off in July.
