Can I make it to (Rank 150)

I am too tough on myself One of my main goals this year was to rank at a minimum of 150.Last year I was #200. I am 156 now and I am 6682 points away from 150.I have 6 days to find a few more coins.2 coins are going to be won at heritage(Hopefully).Scoring a little more than 1000 points each.So now I need 4682 points(give or take a few more points.Funds are a little tight,but I can't let that interfere with my goal.I am expecting a 2008 sac pf70 ultra cameo any day now.A little more than 400 po

My massive November in review

Coin Show Dissappointment

Nothing to buy I went to my local fall coin show here in Louisiana with the anticipation to buy some more roosevelts to send in.I was looking for full bands as usual.The show draws over 80 dealers from Texas to Florida.This show only comes twice a year.I spent over 8 hours and I could not find any great full band roosevelt dimes.Clad coins are the worst.The few silver roosevelt I found had a lot of nicks.It wouldnt grade higher than a 64ft.I might have to go to a show in a different state.My e

A bad economy is a good thing

Things are making sense now Everyone who plays the stock market is getting hit hard.My stocks are in coins.I just can't figure out why is gold is going down hard and people are paying over 400.00 over melt.You have to have something wrong with you to do that.Gas is getting cheaper by the day.Hopefully soon it will be 99 cents a gallon.Coins are even cheaper to buy.A lot of people are selling and just almost just as many are buying.This is by far my biggest month buying coins.17 total and top p

the Ugly next generation NGC slabs

Great for only the presidential dollars I can understand ngc wanting to have more security features,but I think everyone in the ngc registery should have voted on the type of holders.The only person who picked that new design had to be blind or seriously something is wrong with him. Now my coins will look horrible next to the new generation holders.Personially I would rather send my coins back to ngc and pay 10.00 and put my coins in an old holder than display my coins on that god ugly new hol

Hurricane gustav put me behind. Well these are the newest addition to my collection Roosevelts 1947-P ms67*ft 1996-W ms68ft 2008 presidental Dollars all pf70 Ultra Cameo.I an #1 in this set now And a 2007 Sacagawea Dollars pf70 Ultra Cameo.I am still waitng for.Mail hasn't passed here in 9 days.I will be #1 probally at the end of this month also. hurricane Gustav and the #1 roosevelt mint set

What to do? Its crunch time until hurricane gustav hits me.2 days and I have so many coins that are not even in my registery.I can't possibably take them all with me.I can't leave them in my car.My safe is not flood proof.I know the ngc holders are safe in my safe,but to what extent.I an 5 miles south of New Orleans,and I dont want to leave. I know the leevies are 10 feet above sea level.The tidal surge is 15-25 feet.Lucky I can swim .I havent made up my mind yet..Wish me luck

REE What will the mint do?

My take on it If the mint would ever release a coin bearing the confederate flag,it would be a sell out in minutes.That coin wouespecoally if theydid a gold or silver one.Jefferson Davis should be on the presidential coins.His picture is on a lot of lists containing all the presidents.I already started my collection honoring the Southern States.My lincoln penny collection is labeled "Thank You John Wilkes Booth".If anyone has a problem with that I really dont care.

Silver Dollar I love my set name I never liked lincoln.Thank you John Wilkes Booth is my set name for my pennies.If you are native american then congrats.The Sacagawea Dollars are not too popular.They are starting a new indian coin every year or so.Actually native americians came over from the bering straight during the last ice age.So actually no one really owned north america.Native americans kept moving and never settled.

Protect yourself (all collectors society members)

Why a safety deposit box? I dont know why you would have a safety deposit box.If you get audited by the IRS for any reason they can put a stop on all bank accounts and safety deposit boxes.And then the fun begins when you have to answer questions about any rare coins you have.Transactions for checks,And how you can afford these coins on your salary,with kids,bills,ect.I spent 700.00 on a big beautiful fireproof gun safe.I took those weird shelves out and replaced thim with 3/4 inch thick plybo

NGC registry regulations not the same

Pound for pound equal,but not the same I had some pcgs and ngc coins.I checked out both and about 12 years ago I decided to stay with ngc.Pcgs commands a preminum,but they do not have as many dealers sending coins to them.I had pcgs coins that would not cross to ngc.Ngc does 10 times the volume than pcgs.That should tell you who is more trusted.Ngc accepts pcgs becaues the consider each other equals.Pcgs on the other hand wont,and my guess is that because of the volume ngc puts out,the pcgs re

08/07 reverse registry is slot coming

It was confirmed I called ngc this morning and I spoke with someone I have been doing buisness with and that person said that they WILL be a slot probally within the next 2-3 weeks.This means now it is a vam 1 and vam 2.Now people need this coin to complete this set.Price will be soaring by June.This makes this coin the rarest of this set.I hope everyone is holding on to this coin.THANK YOU NGC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!

08/07 reverse and old coin dealers

Old school Coin dealers dont know mess When I go to a coin shop,All I see is high priced junk coins.90% of them wont pay close to retail for NGC and PCGS.85% is ungraded .Buffalo nickels with barely a date or no date,Mercury dime slugs,Bald morgans,wheat pennies that are barely worth copper,ect.10% is certified by anacs and segs and other crappy certification companys.I only go there to buy great B.U. coins that I can send to NGC.By the way, that may be their 5% of what they have left.Older Co
