Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg

Paul von Hindenburg was elected the president of germany in 1925-1932, Hitler was the 2nd. Paul is who the famous Hindenburg zeppelin was named after.

The reichsmark was introduced in 1924 to replace the failed Mark, after the hyperinflation of the previous years. The exchange rate was 1012 to 1, that's right 1 TRILLION marks = 1 ReichsMark. At the time 4.2 RM = 1 USD

Which gives a perspective for this 1929 5 ReichsMark.

Catalog # KM64, 1929A 5RM

How do you tell if this a proof coin or just a nice uncirculated/BU?

p.s. Should I clean it up with some acetone?

I doubt this is proof, more like a business strike that did not see much, if any circulation. There are contact marks on the high places but I think these are from stacking against other coins.

Its definitely from stacking. There were about 60 silver coins all stacked in a cookie tin. Mostly from the german empire.
