1955-S Cent: Cracked Die?

3 posts in this topic

As some of you know I purchased an MS-66 1955-S and when I got the coin in the mail today (finally) I looked at it and noticed this line on the rim next to one of the wheat ears that looks like a die crack to me. Now the coin hasn't been attributed as a cracked die coin but this doesn't look like a scratch to me and it is SMALL. I'm attaching a file that shows the mark I'm seeing pretty well. It's in the top left of the image.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Yep, this is a common die-crack on this particular issue. Lots of 1955-S cents were struck off those same dies and have the exact same die-crack. I sold a couple on eBay here and there, and actually got a few cents premium.
