Removing Protectrant and Glue from coins

2 posts in this topic

I have 2 coins. One with a protectrant coating and 1 with glue on the back. Other than this, the coins are in very good condition. Both are key coins in my collection. Can NCS remove these substances from the coins without damaging them? Thanks, USAMMCE

It is possible that the substances you describe could be removed from the surfaces of your coins through professional conservation. The removal of the substances would not damage them. Any surface problems that may be underneath the lacquer or glue would still be apparent such as improper cleaning or environmental damage which would prevent the coin from grading with NGC, if that is your ultimate goal.
