poor peace dollar....literally

hey gang!

I'm thinking about sending this guy in to get slabbed to see just how low it will grade if it grades at all. I compared this coin to an 1928 S looking for any remnants of an S on the reverse and could not find any so I am convinced that it is an 1928 P. Should be fun to see if it grades and just how low it will grade.

Send it to NTC, NNC, SGS, WCG or ANI and it will come back MS68 PL, than you can sell it on the bay (with blurry images and a little disclaimer) and no harm will be done.

Actually, with the advent of the new PCGS Best of the Worst, or whatever registry, it might fetch more in a PCGS PO01 or FR02 slab.

Not that I have anything against MunkeyMan, but I find it a sad state of affairs to say I agree with him. If you can get that coin into a PO1 holder it will be worth far more than low grade that it is just because of the new PCGS low grade registery. Talk about a grading company making a market.

The grading company didn't make that market. There have been a lot of people chasing the low grade coins, and paying large premiums for them, long before they started the lowball Registry. (Of course now that there is a Registry the prices may go to another order of magnatude of craziness.)

tender peace dollar why cant you be free instead of being threatened with imprisonment in a plastic slab

Are you guys serious about a low ball coins?

I'm a poor golfer and that doesn't get me anything, should I lower my expectations?

There was a Pr-1 specialist who was offering a reward of $1,000 for a Pr-1 Kennedy half or $1,500 for a Pr-1 clad Ike dollar. (He has since sold off his collection, at a nice profit too.) I have seen people working at building "The Worlds Worst Type Set" for well over twenty years (Before the advent of TPG's), and they DO sometimes pay serious money for nice downgrades.
