Texas Money

7 posts in this topic

Texas was the Lone Star Republic from 1836-1845 when it joined the United States. As an independent nation, did Texas ever issue its own currency or coinage? Or did they use the money from Mexico and the United States as the US also did prior to 1857?

Here are images of some of the Republic of Texas Notes I have. Signatures include Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin. They are all canceled (with an X cut through them) but not knowing currency well, I believe them to be in what I would consider decent/good condition.
