What type of error is this ?

got this 50p while away on holiday in my change (whats the chances of a coin collector finding an error ?)

 

it is a 50p UK 2006, the Rev: is normal

thats what it looked like to me on the first inspection but the rim lip is intact

That's the part that puzzles me too, cause it has an edge like an SBA.

I'm leaning towards it being some sort of strike through, but I'm not sure of what. It could just be post-mint damage, but that seems less likely. A picture with less glare might help/

Hey, dooly, haven't seen you in a while.

 

My first reaction was it looks like it got run over (post mint made.) However, it also looks like it could be a lamination or strikethrough. It is hard to tell with the pictures.

i have tried scanning the coin upside down is this any help ?

That reduces the glare, but I still can't really tell. My opinion has not changed.

I'm still leaning towards it being a strikethrough. What does the reverse look like?

It really looks like a strikethrough to me.

Looks like either a strikethrough or a faulty planchet to me.
