EBAY FRAUD ALERT coin_home21355

news.gif The folks on the eBay Forgery Alert group found a Chinese-based seller coin_home21355 allegedly selling counterfiet ANACS slabs. In looking at these auctions, they appear to be the old ANACS slabs that are either too blurry to see the information or the picture was taken to cut off the label.

The seller has a feedback of 0 with one positive and one negative. The positive appears to be a shill. For that positive feedback, the seller is in China and the buyer is in Arkansas. How can the the Arkansas buyer receive the coin in one day in order to leave that type of positive feedback? That user, lwen1226, has sold several Milled/Pillar Dollars and Trade Dollars, both types known to be heavily forged. If you check out lwen1226's past auction for an 1749 Mexican 8 Real Pillar Dollar, the coin looks very suspicous. And if you check the style of the ad, the Mexican Pillar Dollar posted by lwen1226 and counterfiet ANACS holders posted by coin_home21355, they appear to be very similar in style and language. The only difference is the use of built-in "styles" offered by eBay's Seller Assistant program. Both sellers only accept PayPal.

Someone on the eBay Forgery Alert group tried to contact ANACS. The user claims that ANACS said that they cannot do anything without serial numbers. Since the serial numbers are not readable or have been cut off of the pictures, no action has been taken. In a few cases, the bar codes are readable, but you would need a barcode reader in order to read the number!

I would be warry of coin_home21355 and lwen1226. Evidence suggests they are the same seller and this person is propbably selling forgeries! Caveat Emptor.
