I didn't know they had antigravity generators in 1776!

I was photographing a 1776-1976 bicentennial half dollar for my 20th century type set webpage when I noticed something about the coin I'd never noticed before. The strike wasn't sufficient to draw metal into the deepest section of independence hall, making the top portion of the tower look like it was floating. It's really weird once you take a look at it! 27_laughing.gif

Little known facts:

 

The raising of the bell tower was actually a show performed by David Copperfield's Great, Great, Great Grandfather, Chester Copperfield. Chester also made the Liberty Bell disappear and when he made it re-appear, it had this huge long crack in the side.

 

Poor guy was drummed out of Philadelphia for that one.

 

PS...first time I see this cool type of reverse, thanks for pointing this out.
