Morgan PL and DMPL I know you got em let's see some!!

While going through my Morgans today I noticed something with an 1885 O that I would like some advice on. I have 4 of these date/mintmarks and 1 out of the four has the placement of the 5 in the date higher that the others and thus noticeably further away from the rim of the coin. Is this something that is typical to find every once in awhile.

It could be the Vam-5 ( Slanted Date) that you have. The date is set high and slanted to make the 5 higher than the 1.

I think you are right, I had not gone into looking at the different VAMs yet. I will confirm.

i looked at 85-p then 3 85-o's yours certainly looks like the Vam to me. Nice find!

Two in one weekend, I am pleased. The 1885 was one my Dad gave to one of my two daughters a few years ago, I pulled them out of the dresser drawer this morning.
